  • How it works

    Race Virtually:
    Run 5K on your own or with a group.  Just follow the simple steps below… 
    1. Register here
    2. Run 5K on Thanksgiving weekend individually, with a group, or even with your dog.
    3. Submit your result to be added to the national results board.  Your result will be added right away.
    (photo of GPS watch or screenshot of running app on phone showing time and distance).
    4. Send us a photo to be part of our live national broadcast.

  • What is The American Turkey Tradition

    The American Turkey Tradition is the largest Thanksgiving running festival in the world with over 60,000 runners.  You’re invited to join in at one of our 29 organized events or nationwide virtual run.

    All of our 60,000 runners from around the country can share the experience via our live national broadcast which will feature runners from our virtual race and our 29 organized races.   

    Simply register for 1 of the 29 American Turkey Tradition races and you’re automatically entered. This American Turkey Tradition includes:
    -The Largest Turkey Team competition.
    -Compete against tens of thousands runners nation wide.
    -A virtual race for those who can’t join us on event day.

    Participants will have the opportunity to compete with runners from all over the country to see how they compare within their age group, gender and overall.

  • General Notes & Contacts Us

    Packets will be mailed to the address you completed registration with and will include you shirt, medal and bib. Packet will arrive 2 – 7 days before Thanksgiving.

    All participants are required to read and sign the event waiver form.

    It is the participant’s responsibility to make sure that they do not impair their ability to hear, see, sense, and detect present or potential hazards and dangers.

    If at any time you are in need of assistance, please call 911.

    The event could be delayed or cancelled due to dangerous weather conditions. Please do not run in dangerous weather conditions.

    Trail conditions could be variable.

    You can manage your event shirt size and any other add-ons up to 10 days before the event.

  • Awards

    Awards will be awarded to the top 3 participants, male and female in each age group and overall for the 5K. Age Groups:
    14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64 & 65+

    Participants can pick up their award from the awards table shortly after finishing. If you do not pick up your reward there will be a $5 fee to have it mailed to you.

  • General Notes

    This event is chip timed. Your “chip” is integrated with your bib. You must wear your bib on your front across your stomach to be electronically timed. 

    Runners and walkers can participate in this event as long as the participant can finish within the event time limit, see schedule above.

    If you ordered your race packet to be mailed to you, it will typically arrive 1 – 4 days before the event. It will be sent to the address you entered in during registration.

    All participants are required to read and sign the event waiver form.


    It is the participant’s responsibility to make sure that they do not impair their ability to hear, see, sense, and detect present or potential hazards and dangers.

    If at any time you are in need of assistance throughout the event please notify a volunteer or course monitor.

    No dogs. Strollers are allowed for walkers only after all other runners and walkers have started. Children in strollers must be wearing helmets.

    The event will start rain, snow or shine. The event could be delayed due to lightning or other dangerous conditions.  Above schedule is weather dependent.  Trail conditions could be variable.

    You can transfer to a different distance within the same race up to 3 days before the event. If you are transferring to a more expensive race you’ll have to pay the difference of the registration fees.

    You can transfer your registration/bib # to another participant for $6 up to 3 days before the event.

    You can defer your registration to next year’s race for $6 up to 17 days before the event. After that, you can still defer for $15 until the day prior to packet pick up. Please send us an e-mail to request a deferment.

    You can manage your event shirt size and any other add-ons up to 10 days before the event.
